Welcome to The Salon Journal

On May 1, 2025, The Hexagon Salon will be available at bookstores and online retailers. You can use the link on the home page to order a copy. The contents of this website will not make much sense if you have not read the book, so please do that first.

Lena Lake, Olympic National Park

Within the book are graphs related to major world issues. The graphs use data up to 2020. Once a year, updated graphs will be presented in a blog post that focuses on the topic of the graph. Time series graphs have a way of putting numbers into perspective and help show trends. Too often, such graphs would be informative to the public, but are missing from discussions in the media and by politicians.

Blog posts will also be used to give you a link so you can try the alternative voting system discussed in the book. Results of the vote will be provided the following month. Some votes will be to select the focus for the V-scholarship team, but others will focus on whatever question happens to be on my mind when I write the post.

Another part of the post will be to share the results from the V-scholarship salon.

My intent is to have only one blog post per month. I know educators have a lot of work to do as you prepare for students, grade their work, serve on committees, and keep up with email, so I don’t want to add more to your overflowing plate. I will think of this as giving you a monthly respite from the standard approach to the world. It may give you fresh perspectives or a chance to play with new ideas, both of which can be invigorating.
